Archive Arrangement

Alright… I’ve got a question.  As many of you have undoubtedly noticed, my production lagged for a little while there.  In a struggle to keep the content coming, I ended up posting some sketches, a couple old comics, and things like that. Now, looking back through my work, I realize it sort of throws my archives into dissarray.

My question is, should I go back and clean up these wayward posts, either by deleting them, or perhaps just moving them to a different part of the archives? Or should I not worry about it? My primary concern is that new readers looking through the archives might be thrown off by the unrelated posts.  Anyone have any thoughts on this?

From the viewpoint of a new reader, I would suggest moving the extra content to a secondary archive, if it is possible. I think this would help maintain the continuity of the JP&TM universe. Just do not remove anything. I love all the added sketches and old strips.

    Ditto me!, Kevin.
I don’t like the idea of deleting (you will just want it later.. for, um, posterity) but maybe in the news section or so, so the archives flow.

You may’ve already done this but why not just create a special category that this stuff falls into. You’ve been very forthright in letting people in on the development process and I think these posts are very informative to new readers and cartoonists.

Thanks guys… I’m definitely not going to delete the posts, but there aren’t enough of them, and I don’t do them regularly enough to set up a separate area to archive them in, but maybe I’ll just edit their time-stamps so that they all show up at the beginning of the archives, then I’ll put a button on site that links newcomers to start at the first comic post rather than the first sketch (one of those “new to JP&TM?, Start here” sort of things. I just hate to throw off the reading experience with constant interruptions.

Jim: just to let you know, my employer keeps trying to block your site today, because it is listed as a social/networking site.

How did that happen? Who does this ‘listing’?

I’d definitely agree with the rest. An area of the archives with a dedicated JP&TM area would be my preference, too.
