Phew… This time I was really cutting it close… Half an hour to deadline. Good thing I’ve set a deadline, or I’d never be getting these suckers done.
Man do I hate when people shoot down my ideas, no matter how little sense they make… and yet, I like to shoot down the ideas of others. There’s probably some moral here, but I refuse to learn it.
Too bad all comedians don’t still use templates. I like to know what to expect with my comedy.
On a side note, do you like jokes? Do you like comic strips? If you haven’t already, you should check out another comic, The Pursuit of Mandy. The joke today is a bit of what we in the ‘biz’ call a cross-over. Isn’t that nice of him.
This strip is the beginning of the new content. The first five strips I made a few weeks ago, with only a vague notion of what I was doing. Since then I’ve made some decisions, worked out more of the details of the world, and set up this website. I’m excited to see where the strip will go from here.
When I was a kid, I loved designing imaginary weapons and technology. I don’t know why, I guess I was obsessed with destruction, or power or something. Maybe I was just a bloodthirsty little sucker.
Man oh man…. Only four comics into it, and already I’m posting one a little later… I meant to set this up last night, but I forgot. That’s not going to happen again I hope. On mondays, wednesdays, and fridays my comics will show up at 12:00am (Arizona Time, that’s Mountain time I think…I’m not clear on time zones, that’s what cell phones are for)
Ah, the future… In the future I think my comics aren’t going to have that redundant second title on them (two more after this one though.)
That fourth frame could use a little clarity.
This was the first comic that I attempted any sort of neighborhood style landscape… It felt very awkward. My thinking was that in the future houses really aren’t going to change in appearance that much… This may be true… People don’t often like extremely ‘modern’ looking housing, but I think I need to loosen up a bit and realize that this is a comic strip. Haven’t I heard of exaggeration? More importantly though, I’ve realized that it’s absolutely crucial that I draw what I like, because when I draw something I’m not that into, it shows (at least to my eye) and will continue to bug me.
The moral is, in the future, my neighborhood landscapes will look more bizarre and some what futuristic, and I think the comic will be stronger for that.
If it isn’t, then I’ll change it up again. (That’s the whole point of development after all.)
EDIT – This post was originally published on Jan 25th, but interrupted a storyline, so in the spirit of continuity, I moved it here.
Sorry… I didn’t have time to update today, so instead, I’m breaking the continuity with a comic I made for a company I work for. This one won’t be on the site for long (since I plan on deleting it when I post the new JP&TM on tuesday) but I figured it might help lessen the sting of the lack of comic.
