Johnny Gets Interupted, and It’s Business Time.

Alright, things are rolling along now.  Johnny is interupted in mid story by some sort of… (dare I say it?) Monkey business!?!  (sorry… I couldn’t help myself.  It’s a danger of posting late at night.)

Artist notes:

Does this strip have too many narrative devices rolled into one package?  I’ve got the “zoom view’, the multiple off screen character narration,  the monkey notebook, more narration, two different dialogs happening at once, and even onomatopoeia? I just don’t know when to say when.  I can’t learn if I don’ t experiment though.

Doesn’t seem to packed to me. I think it helps to have a high percentage of blank backgrounds. If you packed all the details you usually do in each panel, it would definitely be too much. But any strip with Sanderson rocks! Throw in a monkey and it rocks exponentially!

It’s a bit complex and makes me think, but I consider that a positive!

    Great work!

Best part of the strip (to w weirdo like me, at least)?
The VERY missable, super-funny slogan on the back of the delivery moped…”Delivery is THAT fast.”

    Very nice.

The only frame that might seem a little over wordified (yes, i made that word up) is the last frame. Other than that, I like what ya did because it shows a little more of Sanderson’s bumbling nature.

There’s a lot going on in this strip and it makes you want to go back and read it again. I think that’s a good thing. Plus you can catch the details like the various gadgets in panel 2, the slogan on the back of the Pizza Yesterday vehicle, etc.

The “who’s the professional, you or me” bit (in my opinion) was the funniest part of the strip.

Hey Jim long time reader first time poster, but I must say that your comic has gotten better every time I read it. The only thing I’m wondering is when the JP&TM merchandise is coming out. I already have my Adverse-Empire attire, but wheres the rest? Otherwise I have no real critiques.

hey, thanks for all the feedback guys! (I would have responded sooner but was busy driving across the country - when will the teleporters arrive?)

@PC: Hopefully as time goes on the quality keeps going up. As for merch, it’s in the works… The strip comes first then the merch.

@Me: yep, you can’t go wrong with sanderson.

@Greg: Thanks! Hitting the proper note between thinking and confusion can be tricky.

@Alex: yeah, I liked that one too.

@Wit: I know… That one should have half the words, but I couldn’t figure out how to do it that way.

@Scott: I liked that part as well.. it’s got that sort of classic cheesieness to it.

I thought the last panel was wordified just fine. In fact, I thought there was some particularly chuckle worthy wordification is several places.

I especially liked: “Everything pivots around monkey” and “I smell nature’s hand at work.” Upon re-reading “Who’s the professional..” grew on me.

And again, fun details in panel two.
