I thought I would like the multiple discussions, but now I’m not so sure. For one, the playground is empty today. Am I the only one who was so excited about a new JP&TM that I had to get on here right away? Second, between JP&TM, TPOM, and Pinkertonpark, my browser is pretty busy. If you add to it another JP&TM window, it’s a little too much. As for the strip, I love it, but I think I’ll keep my ramblings on it in the other discussion area.
I do not like the seperate comment forums. Fix it.

“Arms up! Forward! Shamble!” is a line of particular brilliance. And I am neutral on the subject of multiple comment sections as I’m a little out of the loop on that one…but I’ll put my flag with the popular vote, being a good sheep and all. And I’m with Wit on the cockroach issue…I lived in New York City for 12 years…there we just called them “Yankee fans.”
Hmmmm…sorry to be so negative, Chief, but if you have to explain the comic’s details, I don’t think it made it. Kinda like explaining a joke to your Mom cuz she didn’t laugh.
If it can’t stand on its own without you having to post a blog entry explaining what you meant, then maybe you need to rethink it and draw it over so it CAN. Personally, I thought it was pretty darned good on its own, and didn’t NEED the Mythbusters tour, and I didn’t even notice the kid baffle until you called my attention to it. Nice touch, though.
I’m reminded of the fence around my high school…with the barbed wire around the top, facing INWARD, so we wouldn’t try to escape, and the big, honkin’ chain across the driveway when class started. Someone drove through that chain with a 4X4 when he got a call that his Mom was in the hospital, though…the school Narc tried to stop him, because he didn’t bother to get a note from the office, but he wasn’t in a mood to listen. He just drove right through it, tearing the posts at the ends right out of the ground. They never did put that chain back up.

The explanation seems to really divide the group. The fact is, I’m not trying to explain the comic. I don’t think the comic needs an explanation for anyone to understand it. That’s not the point of the post, but I’m doing a poor job of communicating what the point of the post below the comic is about, and I’m getting some negative feedback on it, so I may have to rethink what I post.
When I was posting an explanation, its about what I was attempting to do in the comic. I do this so that other people can see what I was aiming for, and let me know whether or not I was successful. That’s sort of the whole point of why I started posting comics on the internet to begin with, because I want to make better comics, and I need some viewer feedback to achieve that.
Unfortunately, it seems there are a decent number of people who really don’t want to see me dissect my work, or misinterpret why I’m doing it. I understand the viewpoints, and so, I’m going to change things up a little bit in the coming weeks I think.
Yeah, I think you really need to quit dissecting your comics like that. It makes you look like you aren’t confident in your own work. Even if you aren’t, don’t let ‘em see you sweat. And if you are, they won’t get it. I don’t think *I* got it. But I like the comic. Sometimes I have to read it twice…but that may be me. (ADHD…me? Never!)
And I agree…the double comment areas are teh suck. One, please. My poor widdle brain is having enough trouble keeping on topic without having to sort out where I put these damned things.
I disagree. Rob Balder does something similar for his comic, “Partially Clips”. It’s kind of fascinating to look at the deeper, inner pscyhological creation of a given strip – a process that is too often ignored in favor of the more-obvious, yet ultimately less important technical construction.
He does it with a little scissors icon that simply expands the explanation right off the same page, with the default keeping it hidden from view. Works fine.
Also, I love the fourth panel. His dialogue, “Now it’s just getting ridiculous” comes just after the officer asks him to do something blatantly zombie-like, thus hammering the connection, while at the same time he’s forced to go through a way-over-the-top security precaution. Perfectly timed. That is to say, if such a thing even applies within a temorally static medium..
Thanks for the feedback Eugene. I’m divided on the whole ‘comic dissection’ controversy. It’s one of those things that I’m still trying to find a place for, but I don’t know where or how to implement it yet. I’ll work it out eventually. Some day my comic dissection may have a home somewhere.
