Jetpacks and Time Machines (JP&TM) is a semi-sci fi comic featuring a partially robotic boy, a boy-genius with a penchant for villainy, a violent monkey, a retired supervillain, a nature hating nature show host, and anything else I can think of.
Update Schedule Pending.
yeah, I usually spend more time tweaking the dialog in general than I did on this one. This was my fastest strip ever, because I got behind this week with a bunch of other stuff going on… but I managed to work through it, so hopefully I can get a little ahead this next week.
I do consider doing more with adam’s weird head thing… It’s one more thing I’m working on.
Hey, I like your comics a lot they remind me a lot of Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes, which is great cuz I miss them so much. Keep up the good work. Yey!!
Okay, upon going through the archive and reading previous comments I have decided to retract that ‘yey’ from my last post, for the simple reason that I think am the first ‘boobs’ to comment on this site and I managed to make myself sound like a total airhead. Which is unfair since I am only partially an airhead. (I still think yey! on the inside though because it is an excellent comic)
ah hah haahhh… I’d totally forgotten about those comments… It’s true. I’ve had my first comment from china and my first Canadian (that I didn’t already know) comment a few days back, and now my first female comment!
Thanks for reading Rachel. (technically you’re not the first boobs though, I think a least one guy already claimed that honor)
I work entirely on the computer. The only time pencil is involved is when I scribble down an idea for a joke on some note cards I keep laying around just for that purpose. Otherwise, I use a wacom tablet, I layout the strip in illustrator with a font of lettering that I created, then I export it as a psd and open it in Painter which is where I basically draw and ink it. I started using this process to save time… but the real benefit is in the flexibility it allows me. I’m still pretty new to producing comics this way though, so my process is not as streamlined as I might like.
Excellent content. Thanks designed for sharing these records. It’s genuinely of great help to me. From ones own article, I know a lot more in this kind of respect. I might continue paying attention to your article.
Crit time….I’m baaaaaaaaaack!
This is a gorgeous, clean strip. Really easily read. All that black under all that white…I tell ya, I love it.
Have you ever considered putting blink lines or vibration dots near adam’s helmet and antenna on occasion?
Great work.
I love the visuals and that layout rocks the hizzay. As for the dialogue, the setup is great, but the punchline could use a bit more zing (IMO).

I’m sure it’s a good strip. I wouldn’t know of course because I don’t read comics that have been submitted late. It would only encourage you!

On a side note: Take that Jarrett!
Take what…GOTCHA!!!!…I am Rachel!!!
ps…
Nice work with the ladies.
Hello,
I found this comic from a banner ad on Schlock Mercenary.
I am glad I followed it as I am enjoying what I have read.
I like the (what I will call) the classic black ink look. Bright white and sharp black and nothing in between.
Oh, and I love the title also.
Is this done completely on the computer, or do you sketch on paper, scan, then clean up on the computer?
I guess what I am asking is what is the process you are using to make your comic strip.
Thanks,
Doug
Thanks for the feedback Doug.
