Ok, only five people might be aware of this… I’m one hour late posting this comic. I needed the time. I posted monday’s comic early, and look where that got me?
This comic is the second part of the joke from monday, so if it seems especially unclear as to what is happening here, that’s why.

For the record, I think I’m getting hooked. And I’m pretty snotty about the comics I read on a normal basis. Keep developing the characters and you’ll draw people in…

I like, but I have a feeling may readers are gonna have trouble understanding this story line. I could be wrong.
Just some things I would watch for. Panel 1 would be stronger if you ink filled around the bubble all black. Heli-pigs are awesome. Is that the monkey making his first appearance in panel 5? 1st Zing, now SNAP…I get it.
hm… Yeah, it’s the continual problem I have with this darn thought bubble and the jokes associated with it. How do I make people understand what’s going on? Friday’s joke is better in terms of clarity, because I have an explanation written directly into the joke… but even then, I seriously cannot figure out a way to make it understood.
It’s a weird idea, I’ll acknowledge that… Adam was absorbed by his thought bubble, which is basically the physical manifestation of his imagination. Am I getting too “Matrix 2+3″ on this one? I don’t know… It’s a complex concept and I’m not sure I’m capable of bringing my vision of how this one works to life yet.
If the thought bubble makes an appearance after this story line, I’ll have really develop how to communicate what’s happening better.
I quite like this comic. I hope it is going to be kept going, right? Adam’s a great character.

Adam’s expression in panel 4 is quite choice.
….and i just got the joke. the little thing in the bottom right of the last panel is a spectator. i understand now.
Uh oh, you didn’t see the monkey spectator huh? It’s the background isn’t it? I knew I should have spaced that out a little better.
Worry not, good sir. The thought bubble isn’t that directly connected to the little fellow. And i guess the church-esque building in the background kinda draws away from him (it?). maybe if the bubbles had a tad bit of space between them?
Maybe I’m weird, but the comic makes perfect sense to me. Granted I read the last one first, but I assumed there was more to the story and pressed “previous”. The jokes make sense, the last joke in 3 of 3 is funny, the art is clear, the zing and snap are great. I know you say you can’t help but overthink, but I read lots of webcomics and the majority of them build on a storyline. Give us readers more credit! If a joke appears to be in the middle, we’ll figure it out. You don’t have to make us “get it”. I read some comics with 2 week continuing storylines, that only encompass one day.
However, two easy ways to help if you feel it’s necessary: include a link in the newspost that goes to the first comic in that story and title it “current storyline begins here” or just title the series of comics 1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3.

Thanks sarah! I think my biggest problem was that I didn’t spell out that this comic was a continuation right away. I should have posted a line of copy right at the top of the comic that said “part two” or something, because if you would have shown up here and read that one on it’s own, you might not have gotten it right away. I even forgot to tell people that this was a continuation of monday’s joke at first. I had to add that into the blog later. Thanks for the tip about the link to the beginning… that’s a good idea.
I initially mistook the monkey for Adam, and was confused as to how he escaped when the bubble was still there.
A tail might help distinguish the monkey character design from the others when viewed from the rear. Plus, who doesn’t love a prehensile tail?
