Whoops.
Yeah, I got behind again. I got cocky and thought I could work through my move across the country, but it turns out I was wrong. I’ve been pretty busy lately, and unfortunately, I just didn’t have the time to produce a new comic today. I should be back on track on Thursday though.
This strip posted is one of the strips from “Lost in Thought”, which was my previous attempt at a comic that I published briefly on sherpa. The main character (adam) has been swallowed by his thought. His monkey and robot friends are left to “help him out” of his predicament.
I used Flash to make this comic (about a year ago) and the background is a mix of hand drawing and vector shapes. I sort of like crisp vector shapes as backgrounds, but I wasn’t entirely sold on them, but I used them in flash because I wasn’t happy with my hand rendered backgrounds. Obviously that’s changed.
Also, if you look at the lettering, the text at the top of the comic was done in my current lettering, but this comic was done in my first attempt at font creation.

As I have said before, keep posting the older strips. I personally would like to see Fractal reappear in JP&TM (I could see Fractal having a love affair with Adam’s helmet). I think the look of this first font fit the “futuristic” idea of the strip better, but your newer font is a lot easier to read.
I don’t understand this whole “moving” thing. I bought my house 10 years ago, and will most likely still be in the same place 10 years from now. If I had my way, the furniture would still be sitting in the same place it was when we moved in, but my wife has this compulsion to move the furniture around every 30 days.

Yeah, lettering is all about legibility first. Aesthetics have to come second, because nothing ruins the enjoyment of a comic like having to stop and figure out what a word is or what something says (unless that’s part of the joke)
As for moving… Obviously I am a renter… I’m also a bit transient. I just get bored after a while. I like scenery changes, so when I’m in a position to do so, I jump on it. That being said, I’ve only lived in four states thus far, and would like to add one or two to that list.

I have lived in four cities (all reasonably close to Dayton, OH). I don’t spend enough time at home to get bored. Maybe once the kids are moved out I will want to move around. Until then I like waking up in the same bed, staring out the same window, and mowing the same grass.

Fractal might be my favorite character thus far. He’s awesome and gagety and transformerey without being flashy or obnoxious about it.
I really like these old strips Jim! The art is nice and clean (not that the current isn’t) and the semi-permeable membrane is awesome looking. A nice change of pace once in a while!

Oh geez… Two calls for Fractal…
we’ll see. I don’t know if he’ll show up or not.

is there anywhere i can find a complete archive of lost in thought?

nope. Lost in thought was up on sherpa for a while, but has since been taken down. Perhaps I’ll eventually put it up somewhere else, but I don’t know.
